Facilities Hire and Consultation
Studio4 is a fully-equipped, fully-functioning contemporary glass studio, fitted out with three kilns, 2 large communal tables and workbenches, screenprinting facilities, mould-making equipment, wax steamers, and a coldshop stocked with linisher, sandblaster, and engraving tools. If you are a professional artist or hobbyist with glass experience looking to access specialist equipment for your project, then see our hire fees below for the machines or services you require. Additionally, if you wish to discuss your work, ideas, glass methods, processes, and techniques, or new concepts for a project, consider booking a private, professional consultation with one of our artists.
Please note that there is a minimum hire time for studio spaces and equipment. Certain Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the space, you must provide proof of insurance to use the facilities and when handling specific materials, and in booking a timeslot to work at Studio4, you agree to uphold the Studio Shared Spaces Code of Conduct for the duration of your time at Studio4, and will undergo an induction before using the equipment.
Kiln Hire
Our two flatbed kilns are available for firing services, and pricing is organised by quantity of glass to be fired, and type of firing process requested.
Cost of kiln hire includes:
Fuse Firing: Application of fresh kiln wash (kiln shelf scraped back, new wash applied and pre-fired onto shelf), rough edges of fused tiles linished smooth and ready to slump, firing schedule to include bubble soak (up to 4 hours) as required, and choice of tack or full fuse options.
Slump Firing: Access to our range of in-house studio moulds, and pre-firing mould preparation (cleaning + kiln washing).
Firings take between 24-36 hours.
Kilnshelf dimensions are 680cm x 1300cm.

Consultation
Studio4 is home to a group of artists working at different stages of their careers, with years of training, postgraduate degrees, a range of specialist experience, and expert knowledge in their fields. We engage with the medium of glass through different methods in our artistic practice, and are happy to share this knowledge with folks who are eager to learn.

We will email you in response to book a professional consultation session. Consultations will take place during business hours on weekdays. Please provide your availability in your expression of interest.
Consultation rates are $180 per hour, with a one-hour minimum booking duration.
