Discover how to transform delicate leaves, flowers, feathers, shells insects and more into luminous cast glass artworks in this hands-on two-day workshop.
You’ll learn step-by-step how to press organic textures into clay, prepare moulds, and cast stunning transparent glass that beautifully preserves natural detail.
Between sessions, we’ll fire your pieces for you and on day two, you’ll demould and learn a range of coldworking techniques to refine, polish and professionally finish a stunning panel or small block, ready to take home or exhibit.

Core Techniques Include:
• Integrating organic matter with clay sculpting compositions
• Working with raised and relief impressions to create a refractory mould
• Introduction to glass ‘cold working’ processes for a professional finish
• Kiln Firing Schedules

Materials provided:
• All tools (sculpting tools, measuring equipment, drawing equipment, etc)
• All safety equipment (safety glasses, P2 masks, etc)
• All artistic materials (glass for casting, silica flour, plaster flour, clay, etc)
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, each student will have the skills to:
• Make moulds for casting glass
• Integrate organic Material into a refractory mould for glass casting
• Calculate quantities of glass for casting
• Linish, hand-lap, polish, grind, and engrave their glasswork
• Implement appropriate health and safety procedures

• Covered shoes
• Old clothes and/or apron
• Hair ties if required
• Pens and pencils
• Notebook
• Ideas and images for inspiration
• Packed lunch – fridge and microwave available (tea and coffee provided)
Please note - all of our workshops have a minimum class size of 6 and a maximum of 10. Workshops may be rescheduled if minimum attendance cannot be reached. You will be notified by email in advance, should such circumstances arise.
